Discuss:
If you were Thomas, and the other disciples told you that they had seen
Jesus returned from the dead, would you have had a hard time believing
it?
Read:
Luke 1:37
1 Nephi 3:7
D&C 11:8
"'Be not faithless, but believing.' I'd like to leave that one line with you tonight. 'Be not faithless, but believing.' Believe in yourselves. Believe in your capacity to do some good in this world. God sent us here for a purpose, and that was to improve the world in which we live. The wonderful thing is that we can do it. We can do it.... I congratulate you--every one of you who is trying to do that."
Discuss:
Many people feel that problems like poverty and war are simply insurmountable. Why do we believe that these kinds of problems can, in fact, be solved?
How does our faith in the risen Christ give us hope that we can make a better world in the here and now?
Activity:
At the top of a piece of posterboard, write the words "Be not faithless, but believing." Then write down a list of
ways that your family believes the world can be improved. For example:
- We believe that poverty can be eliminated.
- We believe that countries can find a way to co-exist in peace.
- We believe that people can make a difference through grassroots democracy.
