What do we learn from these scriptures about our responsibilities as stewards of the earth?

Discuss:
What does "calamity" mean? What do we see happening to the earth and its resources that could be considered calamitous?
How could principles from the restored gospel help the peoples of the world avoid environmental disaster?
What can our family do to practice or promote wiser stewardship of the earth?

Activity:
As a family, resolve to take some specific action to practice or promote wiser stewardship. For example, you might:

  • make some environmentally friendly change in your lifestyle,
  • donate time or money to an organization that works to protect the environment, or
  • write a letter to an elected official about an environmental issue.
