Explain:
Though we have come to take it for granted, it surely ranks as a wonder that human beings have developed the capacity for air travel. Aviation helps make the world a smaller place, but it also presents potential threats to public safety. International Civil Aviation Day commemorates the founding of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on December 7, 1944. The ICAO creates universal standards for aviation licensing, safety, and so on. The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to promote awareness of the importance of aviation in social and economic development.

Pray:

• Give thanks for the downpouring of knowledge that made air travel possible.
• Give thanks for ways that air travel helps the Church carry out its mission more efficiently.
• Give thanks that air travel has helped bring the world's people closer together.
• Pray for the safety of those who work in aviation or who travel by air.
